Okay, somebody help me here. This can't be right.
The leader of the country that is, and has been for generations, our closest ally has "a special place in hell" waiting for him but the leader of the most heinous regime on Earth, one who has vowed to drop a nuclear weapon in our heartland, is a "very talented man who loves his country" - someone we can trust?
Does this bother anyone else out there?
What is most bothersome to me is not the inherent stupidity of it but how greatly this weakened the United States of America. Especially considering that the man who begins his negotiations by first making his adversary afraid of losing something dear to them to create an advantage for himself. Clearly our Leader has delivered himself to 'the Little Rocket Man' as the one with the greatest fear of losing something.
What is it that the President fears losing?
It seems that the man who constantly, and incorrectly, claims to be the greatest ever has placed the needs of our country second to his own narcissistic obsessions. He needs to bury everything accomplished by his predecessors, especially Obama. Paris Accord. Affordable Care Act. Iran Deal. Trans-Pacific Trade Treaty. All out. No attempt to maintain anything advantageous contained therein. Just out. The petulance of President Trump has placed us on the brink of a trade war with our allies. A war that will only benefit China. But to hell with that. They all were agreed to by past administrations, so they have to go.
But Canada is a different story altogether. Lock step and arm-in-arm our two nations have faced peril after peril together. Not one conflict that the United States of America was in did Canada fail to provide help. Yet the President and his minions blow their collective gaskets because Trudeau reassures his own citizens that they will not be pushed around. Trump's justification? The 270% Canadian tariff on United States dairy products. Oh, wasn't that tariff renegotiated as part of the Trans-Pacific Trade Treaty? Why yes it was. Oh well.
So if the problem was already solved, why throw it out? Because Obama did it. The result? A trade war with a country that we currently get an $8 billion trade surplus from. Oh, and China was able to move into the vacuum from our desertion of our Pacific allies and negotiate some trade deals of their own.
Also, that is the same China that pulls the puppet strings attached to Kim Jung Un's activities. Could that be why North Korea agreed to meet the President? All of two weeks after Kim was summoned to a clandestine meeting in China with Premier Li.
Did they press ahead because Donald J Trump was ripe for the picking? I feel it was.
But what could make the President so vulnerable?
President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize!
Something the President has said he desires. You see, Canada can't get him a Nobel Peace Prize. Nor can Europe. Nor Mexico. The Mideast? Perhaps, but that is a much thornier situation and would require years if not decades to solve. But he wants it NOWWWW!! So off to Singapore we go. And while on his flight he and his staff fire off hissy-fit diatribes to counter Trudeau's comments that they say make the President appear weak. The President did a much better job of weakening his position by showing how afraid he was of losing his best chance of winning a Nobel Peace Prize.
The art of the deal?
