Marcus and Me - Malaise

Just as we humans have four levels of existence , each with its own distinct energy, so can each fatigue at its own rate. Yet the whole can function with two sources active and two exhausted. And that whole may not even know that a certain energy level is critically depleted.

I had to take a trip to the emergency room to get a shard of plastic decking removed from my eye. That night, my mind surrendered to the fact that my body needed sleep to heel. The result was a night of sleep that lasted an uninterrupted 10 and 1/2 hours. Something that has happened to me perhaps three times in my entire life.

True health requires fitness at all four levels of our being: Soul, Heart, Mind, and Body. For so long I have allowed my Mind to ignore the needs of myself, deceiving itself into thinking that it knows my physical needs, which this incident clearly shows that it does not.

So I have been forced by life to recommit to a four level fitness program. Six days a week I will exercise each level to build acuity and stamina. Meditation for my Soul. Journaling for my Heart. Puzzles for my mind. Calisthenics for my Body.

"For the Mind is also that part of you that is most easily deceived." Even by itself.

Marcus Aurelius Part VIII #21 Turn it [The Body] inside out, and see what kind of thing it is; and when it has grown old, what kind of thing it becomes, and when it is diseased. Short-lived are both the praiser and the praised, and the rememberer and the remembered: and all this is in a nook of this part of the world; and not even here do all agree, no, not any one with himself: and the whole Earth too is a point.
