Justice can only be achieved when we community members work to make sure all get what they earn.
How can a generation leave this as a legacy to the next when the instances of injustice are very profitable to the unjust?
People keep dying by the score from gunshot wounds yet Congress can't pass the gun control called for in the 2nd Amendment. All because a club with money and a political agenda warp the meaning of the Amendment and threaten members of Congress with denial of campaign contributions. It shouldn't be harder to get a driver's license than to get a gun.
Women all over the world, including the USA, are treated as lesser humans because of some ancient traditions and prejudices. Equal pay for equal work seems a no-brainer. As does society providing protection against sexual and physical abuse. Rapes and genital mutilation are abhorrent carryovers from a time when women were considered property, not people. Do we hold these truths to be self-evident?
Love is love. I'll not allow anyone to tell me who I can or cannot love. My feelings are mine just as yours are yours. And if two people are in love they should be able to express it in a way that befits their commitment to each other. They're choice, not mine, and not subject to my approval, as mine is not subject to theirs.
At the root of all this injustice is fear. We fear difference. We fear what we do not understand. We fear what we cannot control. So some will assume that the difference is actually sinful or damaging so they can define others' differences in their own terms and so control all that exist beyond the boundaries of their own weakness.
But it is difference that fuels our growth. If everything and everyone is the same, we stagnate and then perish. If there is no growth there is no survival. Humanity dies a pitiful death, dissipating into a vaporous extinction. But if we have a mixture of talents and viewpoints amalgamated into achieving the goal of all sharing in the results of our shared labor, all receiving a just portion based on what they have earned - we all grow. We all become more Excellent. We all become more.
All of us working so that all receive their just reward, both compensatory and punitive, ensures we all are inspired to contribute what we have to offer is a lesson we need to impart on the next generation if we are to eliminate injustice and advance Excellence.
