Equals

For the past couple of years I have been pretty diligent about keeping a journal as a way of helping me focus on my priorities and consider where and how I might find spiritual growth. As I have posted before, I was reading Marcus Aurelius' Meditations to help me in my search for guidance.
After a few months of mulling, I am now comfortable enough in this process that I will be posting my entries here as I write them each morning. There was some reluctance because of how eerie it was that his meditations seemed to address my exact entry each day. Almost every day, he would be on point for what I was mulling over that day. But just recently I realized something truly amazing, truly comforting, and truly weird!

MARCUS AURELIUS WAS TALKING TO NO ONE BUT HIMSELF. HIS INTERNAL STRUGGLES WERE VERY MUCH THE SAME AS MINE. BUT HE, MARCUS AURELIUS, IS THE EMPEROR OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE - MOST POWERFUL MAN ON PLANET EARTH - WHILE HE IS WRITING THESE THINGS!!!

We are all truly equal before the eyes of God. We all truly have strengths and weaknesses and we all truly need the strengths of others to overcome our own weaknesses - and we owe others the offer of our strengths for them. No matter who we are.
