The concept of Excellence is infused in all my writing. In deference to a growing attention to my essays I realized it might help if I explained what my underlying concepts are.
NO ONE CAN BE EXCELLENT ALONE.
Excellence is the process by which we become more, better, and improved on all four levels of our existence: Soul, Heart, Mind, and Body. Yet to accomplish this we need others. We are all born with strengths and weaknesses: the strengths provide us the potential for Excellence and the weaknesses require help from others to get there. It is through the exchange of strengths between people that overcome weaknesses to produce Excellence. Larger numbers of people allow for more strengths to be interchanged creating greater opportunities for each of the individuals to grow. This leads to forming Communities bent on Excellence.
Those Communities need to incorporate five key concepts if they are to succeed.
1. SECURITY - the belief, feeling, understanding, and practice that we are all in this together.
2. COURAGE - to learn the content of our strengths and build our life's work around that content.
3. JUSTICE - to seek only what we earn. But also work to make sure our community members receive their earnings.
4. TOLERANCE - understand and accept our fellow members for who they are and not try to make them someone else.
5. CELEBRATION - the glue. A community that enjoys together and suffers together is together. Clear and direct feedback to members and non-members alike that we are all about being together.
The goals of a particular Community can be as varied as the members. The purpose might be as grand as world peace or just to get a high school dance organized. All human endeavors benefit from the forming of Communities of Excellence to accomplish their goals.
