I heard a report on the radio about a book that predicts how society will stratify in response to the latest technology. The author believes that the "One-percenters will grow to the "Fifteen-percenters" and the Middle Class will be reduced to an afterthought leaving three-quarters of humanity in dire economic straits.
I really have no opinion on the accuracy of the author's conclusions but he cites how the internet and tweeting and the next technological development on that axis will overcome any effort on our part on how we will live. If you want you can go back a few hundred years you'll see similar predictions of how other new technologies were supposed to rise up to rule our lives ala "Frankenstein."
I believe that no matter what technology we humans implement the tool can never rule the master. I do not believe that robots can ever nor will ever rise up and destroy humanity because of evolution, a primary force of Nature. If you are not getting better you are getting extinct. We could develop a robot that TODAY has capabilities beyond or own but if we become enslaved by them, we wait. Eventually we evolve into greater beings while they will stagnate without us advancing their technology to the next step.
Humans have souls, hearts, minds, and bodies that grow in response to Nature's tests. Or will be destroyed by those tests. Without humans, the technology has no being, let alone growth. Human Nature will be in control of its technology as long as we exist.
