What are we afraid of?
So much of what stands in our way is us. We focus so much on our own weaknesses that we psych ourselves out of a life built on strengths. In other words, we worry about not having enough attributes that we never consider what those attributes are and where they might take us. We follow a safe, tried and true path that has protected others from "utter disaster."
My own family has nine wonderfully talented brothers and sisters who all do something that in no way uses any of those talents. I am a writer who is making my way as a financial advisor - a path the other talented writer in the family is following. All of my brothers and sisters can sing, especially one who trained as an opera headliner, (Yeah, his voice is that good) but they shun from singing except at family events. Only one of the artists in the family has tried to display any of his work.
I suppose the feedback we get from Nature and neighbors is cautionary so that the struggle for a life built on strengths weeds out the 'almost-haves.' But if the soul is healthy, if we believe in our strengths, no amount of struggle will put us off. If the heart is reassured, we feel the calling a little stronger than the warnings, no amount of failure will curtail the passion. If the mind is clear, we see a path with all its potential and pitfalls, no level of embarrassment can interrupt taking the next step.
The only thing left is to do. Just do. What are we afraid of?
