A Glorious and Merry Christmas

"A Christmas far more glorious than grand."

This is a line from "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" the most artful and my personal favorite of the animated Christmas specials from the mid-1960's. And for some unfathomable reason, it is overlooked by most people when they consider the classic Christmas shows.

There is a common element to the plots of all the Christmas shows and that is "Peace on Earth, good will toward men. Help out those less fortunate than you are because this season is about giving. But Magoo's show also reminds us to be grateful for what we do have. Focusing on our benefits instead of what's missing in our lives offers us a complete picture of ourselves. We all have strengths to offer to those whose weaknesses can benefit from our gift.

In "A Christmas Carol" it is easy to see how the Cratchetts benefited from Scrooge's repentance but Scrooge benefited as well. His contributions to a society he had previously shunned helped that society grow because more people had more to offer because of his added support, especially the four Cratchett children. They were able to continue Scrooge's good works fr the rest of their lives.

We touch so many through those we touch.

This is how I want to have a Christmas more glorious than grand. Offer as much as I can as often as I can to as many as I can and we can all see the glory this can lead to.

Have a Glorious and Merry Christmas.
